Salvation Army emergency disaster services teams have been at the forefront-feeding, hydrating and offering emotional and spiritual care-to emergency workers and survivors of a series of severe storms that ripped across the Midwest. In addition, it has provided tens of thousands of clean-up kits in response to historic levels of flooding in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin, as well as deadly tornadoes in Iowa, Kansas and Minnesota. Kroc Centers in the Midwest
In 2004, Joan Kroc, wife of McDonalds' founder Ray Kroc, bequeathed The Salvation Army with a $1.5 billion gift, the largest individual philanthropic gift to a single organization. The funds are to be used to construct and develop world-class recreational, educational and ministry centers that will provide life-enriching, if not life-altering, possibilities to people from all walks of life. In the Midwest (Central Territory) seven locations have been approved to begin the final development phase.
