The Salvation Army was a first responder to the disaster in Myanmar because it was already there.

Officers (pastors), soldiers (church members) and employees tapped first into their own stores of food to feed survivors. Artesian wells that were still working at Salvation Army chidren's homes were used for hydrating communities.

At iConnect (a conference for youth and their leaders) 10 individuals from around the Midwest were honored with a Youth Leadership Award for outstanding service and leadership in youth ministry. Each individual received a plaque, as well as a $1,000 grant to attend youth conferences.
