open quote Our teen/pre-teen Sunday School class known as "The Group", made I'll Fight Day a concept rather than just a day. Over the last month we have sorted food in our food pantry, decorated a mitten/glove tree for our coats program, visiting a nursing home, passed out hot chocolate in the park (during a blizzard), gave out candy canes at the Canton (MI) post office, marched in a Christmas parade in Belleville (MI) and most importantly prayed together for our involvement and the involvement of other youth who were participating. "The Group" has prayer warriors that faithfully pray for each person in our class - those that couldn't come out and support us physically, supported us prayerfully. On December 7 we made I'll Fight Day and our experience the main focus of our class time. Lots of great sharing from all regarding the purpose, the value and the need to continue the spirit of I'll Fight Day". "The Group" appreciates the support of Majors Jim and Pat Irvine, Tom Fullerton, Gail Johnson and Bob Chapman with the I'll Fight Day. And a word of thanks to Eric Himes and Nate Irvine for their encouragement along the way. close quote

open quote we decided to make ginger breads and hot chocolate!! :)) so we did it!
at 11:00 some of us started making ginger breads. Making sparkles and everything else! :) but others made cards to add the gingerbread! on the cards was written John 3:16.... that was hard and long work.... but we were happy that we will bring joy to others
at 14:00- ate lunch :P
at 15:00- we got out of the church the table on which we put gingerbread and of course hot chocolate and tea..... than we started giving out gingerbread to everyone who passes the corp :) people were really shocked and all the time asked :"how much is it? what must i do now>" and so on but we just kept on saying :"it`s just to bring you joy"
at 18:00- we finally finished our i`ll fight day! i can say it was frustrating, interesting, filled with joy and laughter and of course the presence of the one and only living God! :) and of course after than we ate dinner and we had prayer night!!! :))

open quote We decided to have an "I'll Fight Weekend" instead of one day. Our weekend started out with the local Christmas parade where we participated with a float consisting of a very large red kettle, a shopping cart filled with groceries..and the brass band. Major Cox and Jason Bigelow walked behind in full uniform waiving and showing the town just who we really are. We also had several people walking with our kettles and ringing bells. It was only about 15 degrees..but the faster we walked the warmer we got. It was so amazing watching people reach into their pockets if only just to put in their change. We were truly blessed. On to Saturday....we headed off to the Bishop Noa Home for a Christmas program. We had not been there in many years and the residents enjoyed the music from solos, brass band..and even the timbral brigade....Once again..a Blessing. Sunday brought us to the West Highland..a home for handicap and/or elderly. We go every year and they all enjoy it so much. The one and only Escanaba String Band played "Come on Ring Those Bells"..with all whom attended ringing their own bells the had brought with to the program. Bells ringing, people singing, smiling faces and warm hearts. What an amazing weekend we had...Thank you for allowing us to share in such a wonderful thing... close quote
