It's finally here! This Friday, October 30, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones and The Salvation Army's national community relations secretary Major George Hood will announce the featured artists for the 2009 Thanksgiving Day Red Kettle Kick-off. The Grammy-nominated band will be on hand to talk about their performance, meet Cowboys players and representatives and talk with children from local Salvation Army programs.
The press conference will be held at the Cowboys training facility in Valley Ranch and will begin at 10:30 and the half time performer will be announced at 10:45. Press releases announcing the talent will be available shortly thereafter.
The Dallas Cowboys and The Salvation Army have celebrated the national kickoff of the Red Kettle campaign for the last 12 years, raising more than $1 billion for people in need during that time. The game and halftime show has become and annual Thanksgiving tradition for millions of football fans across the country. This year, the Cowboys will face the Oakland Raiders on November 26 starting at 3:15 pm CST.
Previous Red Kettle Kickoff halftime performers include: Jonas Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow, Destiny's Child, Toby Keith, LeAnn Rimes, Creed, Jessica Simpson, Billy Gillman, Clint Black, Randy Travis and Reba McEntire.
This will be the first Salvation Army halftime show held at the new Cowboy Stadium.
