The Salvation Army Surpasses Total Goal and Still Counting
(Bloomington, IL) The Salvation Army may not reach the goal for the red kettles this Christmas Season. As of Tuesday, December 31, The Salvation Army has received $218,435.05 in the red kettles. There are still many counter kettles at local businesses to count mid-January. This puts The Salvation Army at 95% of the $230,000 goal in the kettles.
The Salvation Army also had a mail appeal campaign to raise another $210,000. Although, the red kettle goal may not be reached, the difference is made up with the mail appeal. As of December 31, the mail appeal has brought in $219,402. Also, The Salvation Army received a very generous stock gift and online donations bring up the overall total for the entire campaign to $458,676!!! This is 104% of the goal! The Salvation Army still anticipates more mail appeal to come in. Final total and last update will be sent out at the end of January.
The Salvation Army is anticipating a higher need for the community in 2014. For that reason, The Salvation Army is still asking for donations to prepare for that need. Donations can be mailed to 611 West Washington Street, Bloomington, Illinois 61701 or dropped off at our Community Center at the same address Monday through Friday from 9 am - 5 pm.
The money raised during the Make a Difference campaign is used throughout the year to fund agency programs. Salvation Army programs include:
• Food Pantry
• Comprehensive Emergency Assistance Program (rent/mortgage, utility, prescription, fuel, clothing and furniture assistance)
• Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter
