Thrift Stores Store Worker/Cashier Position, Two Positions at 20-hours/week, Other Positions "As Needed"
We need a motivated self-starter able to contribute to a team effort with the ability to perform all functions of a thrift store worker. This includes but is no limited to: recording sales transactions in cash register, handling cash, making change for purchased items, reconciling drawer at shift end and documenting the day's sales manually to paper forms, processing credit card sales, working with customers; lifting and carrying donated/purchased items; clothes sorting operations; stocking, pricing and placing items for sale; etc. The majority of the work done in the position will be of the physical labor type. Basic communication and math skills are required.
The job does involve physical labor with typical lifting of 5 pounds, sometimes 25 up to 50 pounds, and may frequently move over 50 pounds with dolly/cart/truck. A high school diploma/equivalent diploma and 1 year related work experience is desired. Two year's experience is required without HS diploma/equivalent. Individual must be able to take instruction well, be bondable, make change, and work sometimes with minimal supervision. Minimum starting salary is $7.98/hour. Harbor House Shelter Week End Cook, and "As Needed" Cook Substitute. These are two positions, one for week end cook, and a cook substitute. Accepting applications until filled. Positions do not receive benefits.
We need a motivated self-starter able to contribute to a team effort to function as Week End Shelter Cook (1st Position) - needed on weekends for a church-affiliated homeless shelter. We also need an "As Needed" on call Substitute Cook (2nd Position). Minimum starting pay is $8.38. Duties will include healthy operation of kitchen and dining area, adherence to weekly menu plans, reporting food and supply needs to the supervisor, preparation and serving of meals, and clean-up of kitchen and dining area. Position will remain open until filled.
Harbor House Shelter - Monitor Substitute -- As Needed to cover scheduled and last minute absences, and Week End Saturday/Sunday Monitor Positions.
These positions are within a church-affiliated homeless shelter. The position maintains shelter security, performs clerical and reception duties, and provides general assistance to guests and shelter residents. Minimum starting pay is $8.80/hour. A High School diploma/GED certificate with one year work experience is required. A successful candidate must be a team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervsion, while maintaining client confidentiality. Food Pantry Worker, Columbia Social Services Department
This Food Pantry Worker is a part time 20-hour per week position, at our Columbia Social Services Department, with an anticipated closing date of 09.08.13.
We need a motivated a self-starter team player able to interview clients, disperse food orders, and maintain accurate records. Additional duties may include arranging for food acquisition, delivery and stocking of food, and preparation of food boxes to be distributed to clients. Position may provide oversight to food pantry volunteers.
Qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, and one year experience in an office environment. A combination of training and experience may be considered. Applicant must be literate, and have a basic working knowledge of computers to be able enter and retrieve data from a database. Good organization skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate well with diverse cultures, and work with minimal supervision are needed for this position. Hands on working knowledge of MS Word and Excel is a plus.

Columbia Corps, Christmas Kettle Coordinator, as needed up to 40 hours per week mid-October through Christmas Season -- Seasonal/Temporary, accepting applications up to October 15th or until filled.
The position is during the Christmas Red Kettle season serving to further the mission of The Salvation Army by managing the day to day operations of the Bellringing Campaign. Duties include scheduling, placement, and monitoring of volunteer and paid kettle workers, and the delivery, returning, and securing of Christmas kettles and the day's collections. The position maintains records including timesheets, reporting number of paid and volunteer bell ringers, and recording numbers of hours worked. The position works closely with Corps officers and staff. Position may be involved in hiring process taking and processing bell ringer applications.
Qualifications include high school diploma or GED with one year work experience with some supervisory experience. Salary up to $8.00 depending upon qualifications. Applicant must have some knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, pass TSA MVR check, have a Class E driver license, and must be bondable. A clean driving record with the Missouri Class E driver's license may possibly increase duties to overlap with the kettle driver positions as well as seasonal errands. The expected closing date is October 15th or until filled.
Columbia Corps, Christmas Kettle Driver, as needed Morning, Afternoon, and Evening Shifts now through Christmas Season -- Seasonal/Temporary, accepting applications until November 1st or until filled. At least 3 positions are needed.
The position is during the Christmas Red Kettle season serving as a driver transporting bell ringers to and from sites, transporting monies to the bank for deposit, check on ringing sites as directed, helping establish a liaison with store managers. The kettle driver ensures that ringers are clean and presentable to the public, provides aprons, badges, kettles, and bells to ringers. The driver coordinates with Kettle Coordinator and Corps Officer on disciplinary issues, helps with paid kettle worker timesheets, and other duties. Salary at $7.50/hour.
Qualifications include good driving record with one year experience and good knowledge of roads in the bell ringing locations. Must have a minimum Class E for Missouri license, and pass TSA MVR check, as well as be bondable. The expected closing date is November 1st, or until filled.
Bell Ringers - Paid, Temporary Positions through December 24th, various storefront locations in Columbia.
Temporary outdoor work November 15th through December 24th. $7.50/hr. Cheery disposition required even in extreme weather. Must be able to tolerate low temperatures for multiple hours.
