The Target Home program began in 1996, and helps the homeless find and maintain places to live. Each person in the program has case management services to help him or her avoid a return to living on the streets. The Target Home Program is located in The Salvation Army Harbor Light Denby Center in Detroit but assists individuals and families throughout Detroit.
The Target Home Program is a collaborative effort which includes the support of United Community Housing Coalition (UCHC) and Cass Community Social Services. The program is funded through HUD, MSHDA and United Way. Participants in the Target Home program are provided support services to aid in the securing permanent housing after a period of homelessness as well as aid designed to serve as homelessness prevention including rental and utility assistance and hands-on budgeting classes.
