Soldiers of Uncommon Valor begins with the founding of the "Salvation Mission," in London, England, by William and Catherine Booth. It then chronicles the ministry of James Jermy and James Fackler, two men--one white, the other black-who successfully launched the Booths' first outreach in the United States. Jermy and Fackler, like the many who would later minister to African-American communities, learned through their experience that the basic need of every human being is to be respected and value.
