The Salvation Army of Greater Milwaukee participated in a joint federal, state and local disaster simulation, "Operation Red Dragon-Homeland Defense Training Exercise" on Wednesday, June 17 at Froedtert Hospital and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The purpose of the Red Dragon-Homeland Defense Training Exercise was to test coordination and communication between the military and area hospitals' abilities to respond and continue patient care in an large-scale incident. The Salvation Army disaster services team and mobile feeding unit provided food and hydration to soldiers from the 415th Chemical Brigade of the U.S. Army Reserve Unit, under the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, hospital staff and community first responders.

The donations will benefit The Salvation Army Oak Creek Worship & Community Center and The Salvation Army Emergency Lodge programs.


The Salvation Army of Greater Milwaukee received a
$10,000 grant from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation on behalf of Jeff Edgar, a
Northwestern Mutual employee and active supporter of The Salvation Army. The
gift is part of the company's second annual community giving program, Days of
Sharing, which encourages all employees to nominate local nonprofits for grants.
