Wauwatosa, WI (March 13th, 2014) The Salvation Army Greater New York Division in partnership with government and other non-profit agencies is sheltering at least 71 displaced people, after yesterday's devastating gas explosion that leveled two buildings in East Harlem.
Beginning at noon today, a Resident Support Center opened at this site. The site will be a one stop for all affected residents to receive available resources and services from the city and state agencies that include, among others, the Department of Mental Health & Hygiene, the Department of Aging, the Department of Homeless Services, and the Department of Buildings. Transportation is being provided for children sheltered in schools.
