You are in: Feed the Kids Summer Lunch Program
Join us for the Feed The Kids Kick-Off on Monday, June 16th from noon to 1:00pm at Red Arrow Park on 920 N. Water Street.
Summer vacation means many things to children in Milwaukee - sunshine, freedom, outdoor play and family outings. But for a growing number of kids in Milwaukee, the end of school also means an end to the school lunch program that provides the one nutritious meal they can depend on each day. To help remedy this problem, The Salvation Army offers the "Feed the Kids" Summer Lunch Program. Since 1990, volunteers have made and delivered more than 1,000,000 lunches to hungry kids. These children can be found just about everywhere, including parks, street corners and playgrounds. All have the frightening potential to go hungry during the summer months. With the support of volunteers and area food suppliers, the "Feed the Kids" Summer Lunch Program feeds hundreds of children a day - with the cost per meal averaging about 62¢.
