"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
(Proverbs 22:6)
Unfortunately not all students are told that they can succeed in life. Many are never encouraged to pursue their dreams of becoming a doctor, a lawyer or a business owner. The Salvation Army knows that every student that comes through our doors has the potential for greatness and we want to make sure they believe that for themselves!
That's why we offer various charachter building opportunities. These programs encourage the youth of our area to succeed by developing them physically, mentally and socially. Children in the character building groups participate in structured games, crafts and activities geared at helping to promote essential characteristics for a well rounded personality. Children will build self confidence as they earn badges for the activities they complete. Throughout the summer months a number of outdoor activities and camping opportunities are offered.
The Character Building programs of The Salvation Army are open to all young people in Kindergarten through grade 12. Children are asked to pay weekly dues or Sunbeams, Girl Guards, Explorers and Rangers to help support troop activities and expenses. Dues are simply any silver coin each week.
