The Salvation Army Holds Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Expanded Joliet and Will County Corps Community Center

The Salvation Army held a Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, September 10, for the newly expanded Joliet and Will County Corps Community Center, at 300 East Third Avenue in Joliet. In response to the growing population of Will County, one of the fastest growing counties in the country, The Salvation Army, with the support of a local volunteer capital campaign committee, has quadrupled the size of its community center; expanded to 28,000-square-feet; and added a high-school regulation-size gymnasium, computer lab, teen center and a permanent space for an Emergency Disaster Services mobile canteen.
Local families joined State Senator A. J. Wilhelmi, Joliet Councilman Terry Morris, At-Large Councilman Mike Turk, Salvation Army Lt. Colonels Ralph and Susan Bukiewicz, Salvation Army Central Territory Commissioners Paul and Carol Seiler, Joliet and Will County Corps Community Center Officers Lts. Daniel and Claudia Simmons, Joliet Corps Advisory Board Chair Ralph Bias and many generous donors to take part in the ceremony, tour the new building and speak about the impact the new community center will make in the community.
