Date:               Monday - Saturday, November 16 - December 24, 2012

Time:              9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Location:        Various locations throughout Charleston & Mattoon (indoor locations are available)

This is a great opportunity to participate in a century-old Christmas tradition. You and/or your group have a             part in feeding thousands of homeless people, providing toys for children, providing utility assistance

to those in need. Make it a competition!  Ask a rival group and see who can raise the most money!  Volunteers are needed to stand and ring bells at a Salvation Army kettle site. Indoor locations are available.  Any groups or individuals with children under 16 years of age may ring bells with adult supervision. There must be one adult for every three children.

 

Rotary Food Drive  

Date:               December 1, 2012

Time:              9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (approximately)

Location:        The Salvation Army 1300 Richmond Ave. Mattoon

Volunteers are needed to sort and box food.  Other food drives generally take place throughout the season that volunteers are needed for.  Please call the office for dates and times.  Perhaps your office, civic organization, or church would consider collecting food?  All food is distributed throughout the year to assist families in need.  We are also in need of a few drivers as well.

 

 

Food Bagging

Date:               December 9– 12, 2008

Location:        The Salvation Army 1300 Richmond Ave. Mattoon

Time:              9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

 

Volunteers are needed to bag food baskets for the One Stop Community Christmas Program.  Low income families who have previously applied will receive a food basket from The Salvation Army as well as shop for two new toys per child from other tables sponsored by local churches, businesses and service organizations.

The Salvation Army gym will be the location of the event and we always need help with the set up.

THRIFT STORE

Date:               All Year

Volunteers are needed to sort, hang and tag clothing and other donations. 


YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Sunbeams, Adventure Corps, Stomp, Singing Co.

 

Date:               Tuesdays beginning September 1 – End of School Year (No activities the month of December)

Time:              3:10 pm – 7:00 pm

Share your talents!  Do you love kids?  Are you musically talented?  Volunteers are needed to help with our Tuesday night Character Building (similar to Scouts) and Music youth activities.  We provide these services free of charge to area children and provide an instrument to those with permanent front teeth.  Help a child earn a badge or learn to play a brass instrument!  There is also a singing group for those not interested in playing.
