The Salvation Army Angel Giving Tree online program presented by JCPenney is a national, online program that allows people from across the country to provide children and seniors in need with holiday gifts. The purpose of the program is to increase the number of people helped this holiday season by providing a convenient online program through which Angels can be adopted.
How does the Angel Giving Tree online program work?
Through The Salvation Army Angel Giving Tree online program presented by JCPenney, people across the country have the ability to adopt Angels from a local community of your choice through a website located at jcp.com/angel.
The process for adopting an Angel is very simple. You visit jcp.com/angel to be guided through a short online Angel selection process. After choosing an Angel online, you will receive an email with all of the necessary details to help your Angel. Instructions will include the list of needs and wants of the Angel as well as information regarding where to ship or deliver your gifts to local Salvation Army destinations.

How do I adopt an Angel?
Go to jcp.com/angel and click on the red bow to get started
Enter your zip code or the zip code of an area in the country that you would like to help this holiday season.
You will have the opportunity to ship your items directly to a Salvation Army anywhere in the country or drop items off at your local Salvation Army, so choose a zip code that works best for you.
You also may filter by age group and/or gender, but it is not required.
Select “continue” to see a selection based on the information you entered.
Once you select an Angel, all you have to provide is your first name and email address and your Angel is sent to you.
Your Angel information will be provided to you online and you will receive an email to keep as your reminder of the items your Angel needs and wants.
Can I adopt more than one Angel?
Yes. To adopt more than one Angel, simply repeat the online selection process. You will receive a separate email for each Angel you adopt.
Businesses, groups or organizations who want to adopt larger groups of Angels may contact their local Salvation Army chapter to inquire about group adoption opportunities.
Can I adopt an Angel from a different community than where I live?
Yes. Simply enter the zip code of the community you would like to help during the Angel selection process. Please note that you will be responsible for shipping the gifts to your Angel’s local Salvation Army as instructed in the email you receive.
Can I adopt a family of Angels?
No. Angels may only be adopted as individuals, but you may adopt more than one.
I adopted an online Angel but would like to exchange it for a different one. Is this possible?
No. All of the Angels need our help this holiday season and we would appreciate your help in fulfilling the request for the Angel you selected.
Can I adopt an Angel at a JCPenney store?
No. Currently, Angels can be adopted online at jcp.com/angel. For more information regarding other ways to adopt an Angel in your community, please contact your local Salvation Army chapter found at www.salvationarmy.org.
You can also support The Salvation Army by donating to the Red Kettle located outside many JCPenney and other stores this holiday season.
I lost the email with the information about my Angel? Can I have it resent to me?
Yes. Call 1-800-544-1305 for your Angel information.
What is the Angel ID code?
This is a tracking tool used by The Salvation Army to ensure your gifts reach your Angel and will be provided to you on the website and in the email you receive.
Please refer to the picture below to locate your Angel ID on your confirmation mail.
There are no online Angels available in my area, but I still want to help. How can I do so?
Donations can be made to The Salvation Army by visiting www.salvationarmy.org. Your support will help them deliver more critical services to individuals and families in need.
Shopping and Purchasing for Angels
If I purchase my Angel’s gifts on jcp.com, how do I ship them to The Salvation Army?
During the checkout process, you will be given the opportunity to enter a new shipping address. Click this option,
and then enter the information as follows:
First name: Enter “SalvationArmy”
Last name: Enter your Angel ID as noted in your Angel confirmation instructions (what is my Angel ID?)
Address: Enter The Salvation Army address as noted in your Angel confirmation instructions
Click “complete” to submit the new address, and then select that address as the shipping destination when you are returned to the checkout page.
Note: If shipping your Angel items directly to The Salvation Army, please include only those items that you want to send to your Angel. If you also are shopping for other items for yourself or others, please complete your order for The Salvation Army then place a separate order for your additional items.
Can I order my Angel gifts through the JCPenney catalog?
Yes. Please be sure to place your order no later than December 9 and use the appropriate Salvation Army shipping address that is provided in the email you receive about your Angel.
Can I shop from multiple retailers for my Angel?
Yes. You can shop for your Angel at multiple locations and then ship or drop off your items, together or separately, as instructed in the email you receive about your Angel.
How can I be sure to buy the right size of clothing for my Angel?
Sizing information for your Angel will be provided to you. The size indicated in the email you receive is the size you should purchase.
Do I need to buy all of the items on the wish list for my Angel?
Whenever possible, it is preferred to fulfill the wish list for the Angels; however, there is no requirement to purchase all of the items. If you are unable to fulfill the entire wish list, consider joining together with friends or family members to adopt an Angel. The Salvation Army and the Angel appreciate your generosity and any gifts you may choose to donate.
What if I cannot find an item on the wish list for my Angel?
You may substitute for a similar item if you choose.
Do the items have to be new or can I give used items that are in good condition?
All items that you provide to your Angel must be new items.
Do I have to shop at JCPenney for my Angel?
No. You may shop anywhere for your Angel.
Should I wrap the gifts for my Angel?
No. Please do not wrap items for your Angel.
Delivering Gifts to Angels
Can I drop off my gifts at JCPenney stores?
No. Please refer to the email instructions you receive to identify the Angel Giving Tree drop-off location.
Where do I deliver my gifts?
In person at a local drop-off location:
The email you receive will provide you with all available drop-off locations for your selected Angel. Please print the email information you receive, gather all items for your Angel together, and attach the email to the items. To ensure successful delivery and to support The Salvation Army’s efforts during this season, please be sure that your items are dropped off at only one of these selected locations.
Online shipping directly to The Salvation Army:
To ship your items directly to The Salvation Army (including products and gift cards), please use the shipping address provided to you on the Web site and in the email confirmation you receive. There is only one shipping address per adopted Angel.
What is the deadline to get my gifts to The Salvation Army?
The Salvation Army needs to receive items no later than December 14 so it may process and deliver the generous donations in time for holiday. The guidelines below can help you determine how best to deliver your items:
In person at a local drop-off location:
Gifts must be received by The Salvation Army no later than December 14.
Online shipping directly to The Salvation Army:
If you are ordering your gifts online through jcp.com, it is recommended that you place your order no later than December 9 to ensure delivery to The Salvation Army no later than December 14.
Additional gift card option via jcp.com:
jcp.com also is ofjcp.com also is offering the opportunity to ship gift cards to The Salvation Army. Gift cards must be purchased no later than December 14.
Will I receive confirmation that the shipped items have been received by The Salvation Army?
No. Due to the volume of gifts received, The Salvation Army is unable to provide confirmation of gifts received. However, many shipping services allow you to track your shipment.
I adopted an online Angel but have missed the shipping deadline. What should I do?
Please drop-off your gifts to one of your Salvation Army drop-off locations as provided in your confirmation email.
Can you ensure my gifts get to the right Angel?
Every effort will be made to ensure your gifts reach your Angel. In the event that a gift cannot be given to a particular Angel, the gift will be given to another Angel in need. All gifts received by The Salvation Army will help children and seniors in need this holiday season.
Tax Questions
Is my donation tax deductible?
Please be sure to save your Angel Giving Tree sales receipt(s) since contributions to The Salvation Army may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purpose, to the extent allowed by law.
