The Salvation Army St. Louis
Oh Christmas tree…oh Christmas tree! The Salvation Army needs donated tree for annual campaign
St. Louis − The Salvation Army needs your help with a St. Louis tradition. The Army is in need of a donated pine or blue spruce tree to place at the St. Louis Mills during the 2010 Tree of Lights campaign.
The ideal tree will be 30 to 40 feet tall and easily accessible in a front yard, with no electric lines overhead. The Army will remove the tree free of charge in November and donors will receive a letter recognizing their donation for tax purposes.
The tree is a focal point at the Mills. The 12-week fundraising and awareness effort helps fund a major portion of programs and services offered throughout the region year-round. All donations stay local and 82 cents of every donated dollar goes directly into programming.
For more information, or to offer a tree, please call Angie Merseal at 314.646.3193. Photos of possible trees should be e-mailed to Angie_Merseal@usc.salvationarmy.org.

Salvation Army facing Summer Crisis Organization Seeks Midsummer Support As summer approaches, oftentimes it is easy to forget the needs of others in the busyness of our own lives. We are planning vacations, cookouts, time with our families and more.
But right now many hurting people need our help. Their hardships aren’t limited to the seasons. Among them are hardworking, low to middle-income families whose budgets stretch to the breaking point in the summer with higher utility and food bills and laid-off workers who have run through their savings while seeking new employment.
In 2009, we provided emergency assistance to more than 87,614 individuals keeping them in their homes by helping them with their rent, mortgage or utilities, referrals, assisting with car repairs and more. However, there were at least 23,000 people to whom we could have provided more help if we had more funding support.
The Salvation Army finds itself in a difficult situation as those seeking assistance increases and donations drop off dramatically over the summer months. Our budget is already extremely tight because of the fund-raising shortfall during Christmas.
Our only hope of helping hurting families this summer without interruption is to find friends who are willing to lend a hand during this summer crisis. I hope you and/or your business will help support The Salvation Army so we can meet this crisis head-on. Please contact The Salvation Army at (314) 646-3000 for more information on how you or your corporation can help.
Give Someone a second chance while helping yourself Now you can give one... and get a tax credit The road to recovery is not an easy one. Most have no outside support; nothing to help nurture them from addiction and homelessness to self-siffiency and independence. The Salvation Army's Harbor Light Cener aims to do just that; to help me maintain sobriety, obtain and retain employment, and secure housing.
When you take advantage of the Neighborhood Assistance Program, a 50% Missouri tax credit for those with taxable business income, you give a second chance to a man battling addiction.
