Perspective on Life in Japan
It seems impossible that I have already completed half of my overseas term in Japan. Although I can converse and read a lot more Japanese now, I am still taking classes and studying in my spare time. After all the effort I have put forth, it is something I hope to keep up, even when I return home.

Roofs for Papua New Guinea
In Papua New Guinea, The Salvation Army is growing rapidly with new officers building new corps every year. When these officers start a new corps they build the church and their quarters themselves out of bush materials like sticks and grasses. One of the challenges these officers face is the elements. Papua New Guinea is a tropical island near Australia which gets anywhere from 70 to 120 inches of precipitation per year. The officers' thatched-roof homes require a lot of maintenance and will often leak, which compromises their time for ministry as well as their family's safety.

Our hosts, Commissioner Florence Malabi and Colonel Grace Mnyampi, are two beautiful women of God who welcomed us and made us feel right at home in Kenya.

Joy in Congo Brazzaville
At some point, most people have had the experience of patching up holes in a wall. Furniture, children rough-housing, and repairmen needing to access pipes, all can cause damage to walls, and result in the need for repair. During the spring Global Mission Team to Congo Brazzaville, the seven team members patched many holes, large and small, but in this case the damage was caused by bullets and conflict.
