Summer Mission Teams

Where is God calling you this summer?

It may be the year to consider applying for the Central Territory Summer Mission Team.

Each year The Salvation Army offers an opportunity for young adults to work alongside Salvationists all over the world. You may be painting an orphanage in the Caribbean, weighing babies in South Africa, helping a homeless man in Illinois, or talking to people in an open market in Argentina. Perhaps you will be working with children who have never been outside the city, at a camp in Wisconsin, running a day camp for kids in Indiana, or starting a ministry for teens in Spain.

In your own backyard or on the other side of the world, being on the frontlines of ministry will open your eyes to God’s love for the nations. You’ll have a clearer worldview and a better understanding of the commonality of the human experience.

1. Active Salvationist (must own and be willing to wear uniform as assigned)

2. 18-28 years of age (applicants under 18 are eligible for serving on Central Teams only)

3. Must have the endorsement of the Corps Officer and Divisional Headquarters.

4. Visibly demonstrate love for God and compassion for others.

5. Proven leadership ability. Successful involvement in corps or divisional leadership

6. Specific skills/experience in teaching, public speaking, children’s ministry, evangelism, gospel arts or construction

7. Evangelistic zeal and a clear personal witness.

8. Knowledge of the Bible

9. Emotional and spiritual maturity

10. Tolerant personality / Even temperament

11. Friendliness / Approachability

12. Hands-on ministry and service experience

13. Previous missions experience preferred

14. Applicants may serve 1 year on a Central team and up to 2 years on overseas teams
