Q: | Will I know about the home I sponsor? |
A: | You will receive a photograph and information about the children's home you sponsor, and possibly a profile of an individual child in the home or program. |
Q: | Can I write and send gifts to the home I sponsor? |
A: | We encourage letters and cards. Certain small gifts like stickers can be sent but check with the Child Sponsorship Office. At Christmas additional money can be sent for a special Christmas gift to be purchased. |
Q: | Are sponsorships short-term? Can they be long-term? |
A: | You are asked to make a minimum commitment of one year but you can choose to continue to sponsor the home or program for many years. |
Q: | What happens if my financial circumstances change and I cannot make payments? |
A: | Discretionary gifts or short-term sponsorships are acceptable. You may renew sponsorships when you are able to do so. |
Q: | Do you assign the locations or can I choose where my sponsorship money is sent if I choose to do so? |
A: | You may indicate where you would like to sponsor a Salvation Army children's home or program. We will try to accommodate your choice. |
Q: | Can I sponsor more than one home or program? |
A: | Absolutely! |

Q: | Do groups sponsor homes or programs? |
A: | We encourage individual and group sponsorships. Check out our Who can help? page. |
Q: | Can I give a sponsorship as a gift? |
A: | Yes. We will advise the individual that you have sponsored a children's home or program in her/his name. Often the honoree will elect to continue the sponsorship. |
Q: | What is a Discretionary Sponsorship? |
A: | Funds contributed by a discretionary sponsor are used for purchases that benefit an entire institution of children. |
