The Salvation Army Sponsorship program in the Midwest currently helps children in 31 different countries. The children either live in a Salvation Army children’s home or are a part of Salvation Army children’s programs.
Meet a few of the kids who need your help:
Ghana: Begoro Rehabilitation CenterThe Salvation Army’s Begoro Rehabilitation Center helps children in Ghana’s eastern region who have disabilities such as paralysis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and other physical deformities. Children like Yaa, a 16-year-old who has paralysis of the legs due to polio. She was referred to the center and had corrective surgery. Now, she can walk with calipers and crutches to school every day. There are 26 children living in the home ages five-18. Your sponsorship helps The Salvation Army provide meals and security for these children who otherwise would be on the streets. The children attend school and learn a trade so they can be independent when they leave the center. The love and compassion they find at the center allows them to enjoy being a kid.
This school allows any child to have a brighter future through education.

Myanmar: Yangon Boy’s HomeYangon Boy’s Home gives refuge to boys who have been orphaned as well as those whose families can’t care for them. Before coming to the home most of the boys are malnourished and many are fighting life-threatening diseases. The home provides for the boy’s basic needs, gives them a strong education and lots of love and care. Though the boys come from many different ethnic backgrounds they are a family. Like other families the boys have chores such as sweeping, helping prepare meals and washing clothes. Though the boys receive a solid foundation for the future, the actual building is very old and in need of repairs. Sponsors are desperately needed.
Although Renya is able to live at home with her parents in Ecuador, they do not have enough money to provide food, clothing or medical care for their seven children. With the help of The Salvation Army Renya is finally able to attend school and is getting the food and medical care she needs. Renya hopes to one day become a nurse. You can help a child like Renya continue to receive care by sponsoring a Salvation Army children's program.
Republic of Georgia: Didi Digomi Children’s CenterThe Republic of Georgia is among the poorest former USSR countries. In many areas parents struggle to provide for their children. During the day the children have little supervision since their parents are either at work or looking for a job. The Didi Digomi Center offers after-school care and a range of activities to 50 children in need. The children are given a meal, which is often the only meal they receive, get help with homework and have the opportunity to take part in English, music or dance lessons, join a book club or take computer courses. The center not only meets the physical needs of the children but helps them realize their potential, develop their gifts and skills, receive encouragement and know they are loved.
The Salvation Army gives these children a chance to be kids amidst many of life’s trials.
Uganda: Home of JoyHome of Joy is a place of refuge for 40 disabled children in Uganda like Veronica who enjoys chatting with people in English. While there you’ll also meet a little boy with only one leg playing soccer. The Salvation Army gives these children a chance to be kids amidst many of life’s trials.
