THE SALVATION ARMY CONTINUES TO ASSIST
TANEY & STONE COUNTY FLOOD SURVIVORS
Local Officers and staff mobilize to help those in need
Branson, MO (August 8, 2013) Local Salvation Army officers and staff are continuing to help those affected by the recent Taney & Stone County flooding disaster.
The Salvation Army's efforts are focused on providing meals, snacks and beverages to local flood survivors and first-responders. Meals are currently being served from the Red Cross Shelter located at Hollister's New Beginning's Fellowship Church - 151 Elm St. Snacks and beverages are available throughout the day as well.
"We are serving between 40-50 meals three times a day," Lt. Shawn DeBaar, Branson Corps Officer and Incident Commander, said. "Snacks and water are out all day."
The Salvation Army has also distributed several boxes of clothing, shoes and personal hygiene items.
Tomorrow morning Friday August 9th, the College of the Ozarks plans to donate a large variety of breakfast items, utensils and bottled water to The Salvation Army's relief efforts.
For more information please contact The Salvation Army's Branson Corps at (417) 339-4434.
How to Help:
Help provide immediate assistance by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY or by mailing checks to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1715 Branson MO 65615-1715.
Please remember that due to the high expense and amount of time associated with delivering in-kind gifts, such as gently-used household items and clothing, The Salvation Army cannot guarantee at this time that any individual donated gifts-in-kind will be sent to the disaster area. During times of disaster, The Salvation Army is able to meet the need for these items from its thrift store's existing, pre-sorted stock. Therefore, by continuing to donate gently-used household goods to your local Salvation Army thrift store, you not only help your local community, you help The Salvation Army prepare for future disaster relief needs. To locate your nearest Salvation Army drop-off location, please visit www.satruck.org.
