2014 NALC 'Stamp Out Hunger' Food Drive
Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help with the 2014 'Stamp Out Hunger' food drive on Saturday May 10th! Volunteers are needed on this day during shifts to help sort and pack away donated food at The Salvation Army's main location - 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway.
Volunteer Shifts - Sat. May 10
Shift #1: 2 pm - 5 pm
Shift #2: 5 pm - 7 pm (Volunteers will be most needed during Shift #2 & Shift #3)
Shift #3: 7 pm - 9 pm (Volunteers will be most needed during Shift #2 & Shift #3)
This is a great volunteer opportunity not only for individuals, but also for businesses, families, civic organizations & families! General Food Pantry Volunteers - General Food Pantry Volunteers are needed to assist during our weekly Emergency Food Pantry by helping bag food, distribute food to clients, restock the food pantry shelves and provide general support to other volunteers and staff members. Data Intake/Entry Volunteers Needed - Data Intake/Entry Volunteers are needed to assist staff during our weekly Emergency Food Pantry with inputting client information into an online database, greeting clients, and providing general support to other volunteers and staff members. Volunteers are needed on Wednesdays from approximately 9 am - Noon & from 1 pm until 4 pm. For more information please click here.
Lawncare & Landscaping Volunteers -Lawncare & landscaping volunteers are needed throughout the week to help with mowing, trimming and to provide general assistance to the maintenance department as needed. Hours are felxible and all equipment & supplies will be provided.
Volunteer Drivers - Volunteer drivers are needed Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 9 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. to help pick up & deliver food donations, transport residents to and from appointments, and assist with other transportation needs.
Qualified volunteer drivers must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Class E (passenger/chauffeur's) license and pass a thorough background check. Volunteer drivers will have use of a Salvation Army vehicle during these volunteer opportunities.
Family Thrift Stores - Volunteers are needed every 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month at our Family Thrift Store located at 1737 S. Campbell Ave. Volunteers are needed in shifts from 9 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. This is a great volunteer opportunity not only for individuals, but also for student groups, businesses and organizations. Administrative Offices- Volunteers are needed primarily Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to help with light administrative and clerical duties such as filing, data entry, photocopying and telephone reception.
