THE SALVATION ARMY REACHES 2008 TREE OF LIGHTS CAMPAIGN GOAL
We are please to announce that we have reached and exceeded our goal of $525,000.00 by 12% for a total of 588,067. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the media for helping us get our message out to the community and to the community for your generous support to The Salvation Army's 2008 Tree of Lights Campaign.
Your donations not only helped families at Christmas with food, toys and winter wear, but will continue to help us as we move ahead with our mission to meet the many year-round needs of the less fortunate in our community. Our Harbor House provides an opportunity for men struggling with addiction to re-establish themselves in the community. Our Family Enrichment Center provides a nurturing and safe place for families who are homeless. The New Start Housing program is a transitional housing program for those currently living in a shelter situation. These long-term intervention programs offer hope and practical assistance in helping those who wish to break the cycle of homelessness.
One important segment of The Salvation Army service is its ministry to children. Emotional support, learning leadership skills and developing friendship and tutoring is an integral part of a variety of programs that are offered year round for children which include our Summer Day Camp, After School Recreational Activities, Music and Character Building Activities and assistance with Back-to-School clothing, shoes, school supplies and haircuts.
"Thank you again for your trust, prayers and generous support", said Major Grainger.
