THE SALVATION ARMY ASSISTS FAMILIES WITH BACK-TO-SCHOOL OUTREACH.
As part of the United Way Day of Caring, The Salvation Army will assist families in need with Back-to-School clothing, shoe vouchers, a back pack filled with basic school supplies and haircuts for their children. The distribution and placing of school supplies will take place on the designated Day of Caring, August 20. Volunteers from local companies will assist with the distribution.
Families living in Greene County in need of assistance can sign up Monday - Friday from July 27 - August 7 from 9 AM - 3 PM and on Monday's we have an additional sign up from 5 PM - 7 PM. There will be no sign up on July 28. Families must bring a social security card for all members of their household receiving assistance, proof of income and proof of residency.
You can help by giving a monetary donation or providing new and used clothing, new school supplies and new shoes. A list of school supplies needed include: primary tablets, spiral notebook paper, college rule loose leaf notebook paper, crayons, folders with brackets, glue, rulers, blunt and sharp pointed scissors, school boxes, colored pencils, Erasers, #2 pencils, backpacks, and ink pens. You can bring your school supply donations to The Salvation Army located at 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway and your clothing and shoe donations to The Salvation Army Thrift Store or mail in your monetary donation to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 9685, Springfield, MO 65801.
