THE SALVATION ARMY IS $207,000 SHORT

OF ITS $1,000,000 TREE OF LIGHTS GOAL

There's still time to donate and help those in need!

Springfield, MO (December 29, 2011) - Six weeks ago today, The Salvation Army began its annual Tree of Lights Campaign, which each year raises critically needed funds to support its programs & services all year long. This year to meet the increasing demand in its services The Salvation Army announced a $1,000,000 Tree of Lights Campaign goal.

Currently, The Salvation Army is approximately $207,000 short of reaching its $1,000,000 Tree of Lights Campaign goal. To date, $792,706 has been donated. All donations stay in the location where they originated and will help thousands of residents in Greene, Christian, Taney and Stone counties.

"We greatly appreciate everyone who has donated to the Tree of Lights campaign this year," Major Norman Grainger, Ozark Area Coordinator said. "However, we want to let everyone know that there's still time left to help us help others by making a donation," Grainger said.

Donations can be made online at www.onlineredket tle.com/TSAOzarksAreaCoordination or mailed to 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway Springfield MO 65802.

"Donations help us help families put food on their tables, provide shelter for those who have nowhere else to go and operate safe and affordable programs for children and senior citizens," Grainger said.

Now is also a great time to invest in the local community and at the same time reduce your taxes. Residents can minimize their taxable income in 2011 by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution to The Salvation Army from their IRA's. However, this tax benefit will expire on December 31.

"This is such a generous community and we hope that the community will once again extend their generosity to our efforts and help us reach our goal, which is to ultimately serve others," Grainger said.

The Salvation Army Ozark Area Coordination helps residents in Greene, Christian, Taney & Stone counties. Last year, The Salvation Army provided more than 56,000 services to nearly 20,000 Ozarks residents. Available assistance includes an emergency food pantry, housing & shelter programs, a senior citizen center and many community outreach events.
