THRIFT STORE CUSTODIAN - Full time position with benefits; $7.39 p/h
This position is expected to perform all types of building custodial cleaning duties to include seasonal grounds upkeep and checks electrical items before being placed for sale.
Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.Essential Duties:
1. Primary duty is to perform general custodial duties which includes but is not limited to: clean restrooms, empty trash, vacuum/sweep/mop floors, pick up trash, dust, wax wood, clean spots in carpet, wash inside windows, replace light bubs, paint/clean spots on walls, replace light switches/ballasts, replace faucets, door knobs and other minor repairs, mow grass, trim shrubbery and grass, remove snow and ice from sidewalks and entry door area, etc.
2. Move/pickup furniture, equipment, tools and supplies, as assigned.
3. Make pickups and deliveries driving a box truck as necessary, as assigned.
4. Test electronic equipment that is donated to assure working condition before being placed on the sales floor, as assigned.
5. Assist with vehicle maintenance, as assigned.
6. Maintain confidentiality and comply with Salvation Army Safe from Harm guidelines.
7. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, visitors, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about visitors, clients, co-workers and supervisors.
Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED with one year related work experience. Combination of training and experience will be considered. Ability to read and comprehend a job description, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheet. Basic communication skills to facilitate good communications between visitors and other employees. Pass The Salvation Army MVR check and within 90 days of employment, must obtain a valid drivers license to operate a box truck (Class E).
Physical and Work Environment Requirements: Capable of frequently lifting 30 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds. Occasionally moves 100 pounds or more using dolly/cart/truck. Majority of lifting is from floor to waist height. Some lifting required above waist and shoulder high but it will be at a reduced weight. Position will have to bend, stoop, crouch, stand, walk, carry and push/pull items to accomplish this job. Occasionally climb a ladder to work (replace light bulbs, etc.). Some of this work will be outdoors and it will be cold in the winter and hot in the summer.

HARBOR HOUSE CASE MANAGER - Full-time position with benefits
Position Summary: This position coordinates case management for Harbor House residents. Position is expected to comply with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State and Local policies and standards.
Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or other related field, accompanied by at least one year of work experience in human service delivery, administration, or management. Combination of education and experience may be considered. Ability to work with diverse and challenging personalities is essential. Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and capable of enter and retrieve data from a computer. Ability to use Word and Excel. Requires good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time. This position fills in when the regular FEC monitor is off work due to vacation, illness, etc. Maintain FEC security. Perform related duties to maintain control and assist homeless clients in the FEC. Monitor clients to maintain control and assure safety of clients in building and on grounds.
Job Duties:
1. Enforce resident policies and procedures. Accomplish intake interviews on all clients including police clearance and explain policies and procedures thoroughly.
2. Assign beds for lodging, and give out bed linens as needed.
3. Make FEC journal log entries of incidents during the shift, and read the previous entries at the beginning of the shift.
4. Record statistics of attendance at house meetings and maintain client roster list.
5. Make resident bed checks during the night.
6. Answer phone calls and take/pass messages as necessary.
7. Assign/monitor chores to be completed by residents. Assist with training for chores. Keep office clean.
8. Wake clients up as necessary.
9. Maintain confidentiality and comply with Salvation Army Safe from Harm guidelines.
10. Participate in other activities as directed (e.g., team meetings, in-service training, fund-raising/special events, etc.).
11. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors. COOK PART TIME - 20 hrs per week: The position reports to and is supervised by the Corps Officers/Head Cook, the cook is responsible for preparation and serving meals and performing cleanup. This position does not supervise other employees. Position pays $8.00 per hour. Pro-rated benefits: Sick, holiday and vacation time. Two positions are available 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (M-F); 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (M-F)

2. Comply with all safety and health regulations/codes regarding food preparation and service including maintenance of proper sanitation by wearing plastic gloves, hair nets, and aprons.

6. Operate necessary kitchen equipment for food preparation & clean-up.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements: Must be able to perform the above essential duties. Capable of frequently lifting 25 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Will occasionally move 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart/truck. Most work will be indoors in a temperature control environment; however, in the kitchen it will get above 80 degrees at times and cold in the walk-in refrigerator/freezer if so equipped.
