The Salvation Army is nationally recognized for being on the cutting-edge in creating and modeling innovative social service programs that make a difference in people’s lives. The kinds of assistance The Salvation Army provides covers a broad spectrum and varies in each community based on local needs and resources.

The Salvation Army’s ministry is holistic in nature. To be effective, it seeks to address the whole person because it believes that each person is a seamless fabric of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It strives not only to meet people’s immediate needs but to offer opportunities for lasting life change. To accomplish this, The Salvation Army believes that it is important to address larger issues and often to provide a continuum of service.

The Salvation Army often works in conjunction with government, other churches and agencies to bring the maximum amount of resources to bear in meeting people’s needs, helping this life change occur and improving communities while preserving people’s dignity. Every year help is given freely by The Salvation Army to hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. without regard to race, gender, culture or religion.
