"Harvest Festival Auction & Bake Sale" Proceeds to benefit local music program and worldwide mission work of The Salvation Army
ROCHESTER, Minnesota - The Salvation Army Worship Center invites the Rochester community to their annual Harvest Festival Auction on Friday, October 30, 2009 in the Community Center/Chapel (located at 20 First Ave NE). The evening will start at 5:00pm with supper, as well as a craft and bake sale. A live auction will ensue at 6pm with local auctioneer John Kruesel. Auction items include antiques, overnight lodging, jewellery, pictures, Christmas items, and collectibles. For more information on auction items, call (507) 288-3663 and ask for Major Paulette Frye. All proceeds will benefit The Salvation Army's local youth band program, as well as the church's worldwide mission work (Salvation Army World Services).
The Salvation Army opened in Rochester in 1896 and continues to be a leading service organization in Olmsted County. The music program is one of many different services offered to enhance the lives of those most in need in Olmsted County. The Salvation Army Rochester also serves 50-70 meals each day, provides daily emergency assistance, gives medical and dental care to dozens of area residents each week, provides hundreds of nights of lodging each week, and preaches a Bible message to thousands each year.
