Bell Ringing - The Christmas Red Kettle Campaign (Nov 13 - Dec 24) Red Kettle efforts raise funds to support year-round programs in your community. Red Kettle volunteer gave over 4,000 hours of service in 2008! With the help of hundreds of generous volunteers like you, The Salvation Army is making a difference one life at a time.

Christmas Assistance Programs In addition to the everyday programs, The Rochester Salvation Army provides several Christmas assistance programs to Olmsted County residents. Families and individuals can register for these Programs by making an appointment to stop in and apply in person. Appointments are necessary. Click here to learn about volunteering.
Christmas Grocery Store Vouchers Eligible individuals and families may receive a gift card to a local grocery store to purchase their own holiday meal.
Toy and Joy Shop (Tues & Wed, Dec 22 & 23) Eligible parents are given the opportunity to come to the Toy & Joy Shop at The Salvation Army to choose age appropriate gifts for their children. Parents are guided and assisted through the Toy and Joy Shop by volunteers. Toys, clothing, and other items are donated by groups and individuals through the Apache Mall Sharing Tree, the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, and other programs. Click here to learn about volunteering.
Children's Shopping Trip (Wed, Dec 9) The 8 and 9 year old children of eligible families are invited to join the Children's Shopping Trip. This trip involves pairing up the children with a volunteer. Together they board a bus to a local store where they shop for each member of their immediate family. The Salvation Army provides funds based on family size. The children and volunteers then return to The Salvation Army where they wrap their gifts and have a snack. Click here to learn about volunteering.
Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinners (Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day) The Salvation Army provides traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas Day dinners for anyone in the community who would like to participate. Many who are elderly, alone or away from home during the holidays can enjoy this meal. Volunteers set-up, serve, prepare, and clean up for this program.
Prison Toy Lift (Prison Visit is Wed, Nov 4 & Toy Wrap is Wed, Dec 2) Volunteers go to the Rochester Medical Center Corrections Facility so that inmates can choose an age appropriate gift for their children that will be mailed to their homes. Click here to learn about volunteering.
