You are in: Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center
The Salvation Army is the beneficiary of an historic gift from the estate of Joan B. Kroc, widow of McDonald's founder Ray Kroc, of approximately of $1.5 billion. This represents the largest individual gift in the history of human services. The Salvation Army of St. Joseph County is one of ten other communities in the central United States that has been pre-qualified to receive a $42.5 million portion of this generous gift specifically for the purpose of creating a state-of-the-art youth and family center. When completed St. Joseph County will have the only Kroc Center located in the state of Indiana.
The terms specified by Joan Kroc require 50% of the gift be allocated for facility construction and the remaining 50% used for an operating endowment. The Salvation Army of St. Joseph County is required to raise an additional 25% of the gift, $10 million, to add to the endowment. In essence, for every dollar contributed locally, five dollars will be realized. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish a $52.5 million center by raising $10 million.
Help us create a center of excellence and achievement for the underserved people of our community.
