Shantinager School –Pakistan

This school is owned and operated by The Army in Shantinager and is about a five hour drive from Lahore. The capacity is 400 students, and 374 are currently enrolled. Upon a recent visit this is what the Sponsorship Coordinator had to report:

"The children were most gracious and polite. As we entered each classroom the entire class stood and greeted the Superintendent and myself. Many rooms did not have enough desks, some had no blackboards and there were little supplies anywhere. The students without desks continued to work diligently although from the floor. The school, staff and students do the best they can given the situation. It was a delight to see small children working at the board with spelling, some in English and Urdu, some in Hindu. The town itself historically has been a Salvation Army founded settlement. There are several like that in Pakistan. When we arrived the older class was practicing a presentation/ Bible reading they were to do for the General (International Leader of the Salvation Army) when he visits."
