Kampala Community Centre - Uganda

Kampala Community Centre operates a nursery, child care, vocational training in carpentry, catering and tailoring, an education club for orphans and a KAY (Kids and Youth) club for orphans and vulnerable children. Kampala Corps (Salvation Army Church) also meet at the centre and are happy to include the orphans who use the centre in worship.

The nursery provides income for the centre, but with help, we can also offer free places for orphans.

The six month course for carpentry is funded and offers free places to all students: orphan heads of household have priority.

Tailoring and catering course are funded through fees, though we like to offer free places when we have help to do this.

In Uganda orphans are excluded from local schools if they cannot afford uniforms and books. The centre provides these needs, with the help of sponsorship funds. Also providing porridge for the students as a meal.
