New Playground Brings Smiles To St. Louis Temple Corps & Community Center
Take 270 volunteers, 800 pounds of mulch and a semi truck full of playground equipment. Now give yourself six hours to put it all together. Why not throw in a few garden beds, a bike safety training area, 40 cubbies and a picnic area. Ok ready? Go!
On Wednesday, April 6, 2011 this is exactly what happened. Funded by the company Energizer through a partnership with the non-profit KaBoom! The Salvation Army Saint Louis Temple Corps and Community center received a brand new playground next to its building at 2740 Arsenal located in South city.
Since its grand opening on Saturday, April 9, 2011 there has been countless new connections made between the Corps and neighborhood families. Instead of finding the neighborhood kids playing in backyards and allies they can now be seen playing on the new playground.
