ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM
Families experiencing particularly difficult circumstances are available to be adopted. In our Adopt a Family program, donors provide gifts for all family members and food for a Christmas dinner. Many families of all sizes are available for adoption and sponsors will be matched with a family based on support level and family need.
Families who are in desperate need of basics such as food, clothing and household items during the holidays are placed in the care of The Salvation Army's Adopt a Family program. Each family creates a wish list of items and is matched with a volunteer donor team. Businesses, families and school groups adopt families in this program, generously meeting the family's needs and instilling hope in those who have none.
Your family, office or organization can make a family's Christmas brighter by participating in The Salvation Army's Adopt-A-Family program. This program allows you to provide a needy family a Christmas that they would otherwise not have. If you decide to "adopt" a family, you are asked to provide the family's Christmas dinner, toys and clothing for the children and parents and a game that the whole family can enjoy to promote family unity.
The program is designed to encourage individuals, families and businesses to show compassion by sponsoring a family at Christmas. Any family, business, organization or church can adopt -a - family.
Sponsors can adopt families anytime from November 1 through December 10, 2009. Sponsors can select a family of their choice (families range in size from two to ten plus) or adopt a senior citizen. Sponsors are then provided an adoption form with the children's and parents names, sizes and includes a wish list to use in their shopping. We encourage the purchase of gift cards for perishable foods but gift cards can also be purchased for families or seniors gifts.
Sponsors will deliver their gifts to The Salvation Army located at 100 Arbana Drive in Ann Arbor or choose to deliver the items to the family.
The Salvation Army has done "The Adopt - A - Family program for many years. We want to ensure that every local family in need is provided for.
