PROGRAMS
INTAKE INTERVIEWS AND EVALUATIONS are made to determine appropriateness.
HOUSING is provided in dormitory and private rooms which are safe and clean.
NUTRITIONAL MEALS are provided to prevent further physiological deterioration and to promote good health.
LIMITED EXTERNAL MEDICAL SERVICES are available through formal and informal referrals.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING is offered to each resident to provide a one-on-one structure and growth opportunity.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH and opportunities for sharing are provided through group worship experiences and private counseling with Corps Officers.
BASIC LIVING SKILLS TRAINING is offered to all residents to sharpen basic living skills.
BARRIERS TO CHANGE is offered to all to enable residents to lose bad habits and gain new perceptions.

Shelter Mission/Purpose Statement
The mission of The Salvation Army Shelter is to work with homeless families and individuals of Wausau and Marathon County to develop plans that enable them to achieve increased self sufficiency, reduced dependence on public assistance, improve independent living skills, develop greater self-determination, and secure and maintain permanent housing.
The Salvation Army Homeless Shelter opened in May of 1993. The Shelter is located at 113 S 2nd Ave, Wausau. The Salvation Army Homeless Shelter provides meals, shelter, and other services to persons experiencing homelessness.

No outstanding warrants for arrest

Capable of performing all daily skills independently

Actively seeking employment and/or attending NTC's Goal Lab

In no acute mental health distress

Successful past admissions or documented changes in life to justify another chance/stay
-
Potential client wants to become self-reliant.
