The Salvation Army Announces 2011 Mission of Hope

Mission of HopeWICHITA, KS - The Salvation Army 2011 Mission of Hope is pleased to announce that local income donations totaled $1,609,919. When the final fundraising numbers were recently tallied, the Army was thankful to discover a significant increase in donations from 2010.

"We are grateful for the ongoing generosity of the Wichita community," said Major Douglas Rowland, Wichita City Commander with The Salvation Army. "We were blessed to experience a five percent increase from last year here in Wichita. While on the national level, our organization set a fundraising record. With so many families and individuals struggling, these donations help us assist several thousand in need in our community."

  • Children Who Received Gifts - 10,675
  • Families Served - 4,059
  • Individuals Served- 18,233

"We are thankful for this outpouring of support for our programs, and our pledge continues to be that we will be good stewards with what has been entrusted to us," Rowland said. "The funds raised during the holidays help not only at Christmas but throughout the year in Sedgwick County."
