The Salvation Army Deploys Kansas City Disaster Team To Assist With Tornado Relief in EDS in Wichita
The Salvation Army remains on the scene in Wichita this morning, offering support to community members in the aftermath of a devastating tornado that tore through the southern part of the city Saturday night. Three Salvation Army emergency disaster mobile feeding kitchens (canteens) are back in action today, offering assistance to first responders, survivors and clean-up crews. One canteen is stationed outside a temporary shelter for survivors, while the two other canteens are roving through the devastated areas.

Salvation Army Responding To Alabama Tornadoes
The Salvation Army is on the ground in Jefferson and Chilton Counties in Alabama offering physical, emotional, and spiritual care to survivors and relief personnel. Within the first two hours following the tornado, The Salvation Army was actively serving meals in multiple locations across Jefferson County. Five mobile feeding units have been deployed across the region.

The Salvation Army Launches New Program For Homeless Veterans in Wichita
The Salvation Army is announcing the launch of a new program to help homeless veterans in the state of Kansas, including the Wichita area. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families program (SSVF) is designed to assist very low income veterans and their families in obtaining and maintaining stable housing. Supportive services include case management, life skills training, support groups and financial and transportation assistance. Peer mentors who are also veterans will add to the individualized, strength-based approach of care.

The annual Christmas gift drive provides toys, clothing, special-needs gifts or other wish list items to kids and senior citizens experiencing financial hardship.
